How to make a referral

Referring someone is easy!

Just follow these steps: 

  • Share this page link with your family and friends.
  • Ask them to complete the form and include your name as the referee.
  • Once they submit the form, our student recruitment team will get in touch with them.
  • We’ll guide them through the application process.
  • When your referral successfully enrols, you’ll receive €500 for each referral (subject to terms and conditions below).

GBS Malta Student Referral Scheme Terms and Conditions 

1. By taking part in this Student Referral Scheme, the current student or alumni known as the 'referrer' is bound by these terms and conditions and indicates their agreement with them. 

2. A student who has successfully completed a GBS Malta qualification can be an alumni referrer. 

  • Current students who are studying on a programme delivered by GBS Malta at the time of referral and payment processing (i.e., referral fees cannot be paid to students who have discontinued their programme ). 
  • Alumni: Students who have successfully completed a qualification with GBS Malta can be an alumni referrer. 
  • Any person who has family, friends and/or colleagues who have a desire to study. 
  • Who can be referred: A person who meets the entry requirements of a GBS Malta programme can be referred. 

3. The Student Referral Scheme only applies to programmes directly taught by GBS Malta and those programmes are eligible for this offer. A full list of programmes is available online at courses. GBS Malta will permit an unlimited number of referrals per referrer per academic year. 

4. The new student needs to meet the following conditions: 

  • Submit an application form which states the full name and Student ID of their referrer. 
  • Complete the initial admissions assessment. 
  • Successfully enrol onto your course. 
  • Ensure that necessary fees have been paid. 

5. The referrer only receives payment for each new student referred under the following conditions: 

  • The new student's full name and Student ID number must be included in order for GBS Malta to identify the origin of the referral. 
  • The new student has successfully enrolled on their course. 
  • The referred student provides the full name and Student ID of the referrer during their application. 
  • GBS successfully receives the first instalment of the referred student's tuition fees. 

Changes to the Student Referral Scheme 

GBS Malta reserves the right to make amendments to this referral scheme, including changes to terms and conditions, or a withdrawal of the scheme at any time. 

Governing Law 

In the event of a dispute or claim pertaining to the conditions or subject matter of the referral scheme, the case will be governed under the law of Malta. 

1. GBS needs to collect, store and process personal data about its staff, students, and other individuals it has dealings with, to carry out our functions and activities. GBS is a controller for most of the personal data it processes and is committed to full compliance with the applicable data protection legislation including The Data Protection Act 2018 and the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

2. Due to data protection and privacy regulations, the referrer will not receive any updates on the new student’s application or tuition fee payment status, except to be notified once the tuition fee has been received and so to request the referrer’s details for payment purposes.

3. If you are involved in study arrangements with any of GBS Collaborative Partner Institutions, please note that all our partners are also Data controllers and are responsible for the same regulations as GBS and must comply with Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR. Please refer to each of our partner Institutions specifically for further information on their data protection guidelines.

1. The referrer is entitled to a referral payment of £500 per new student where all terms and conditions of the student referral scheme are satisfied. For any avoidance of doubt, your payment will be subject to HMRC PAYE income tax and national insurance deductions.

2. Payments will be made approximately 4 months after course start date. Timescales vary depending on the course being studied. Click here for guidance on payment timescales, please note this is an indication and is only valid if the student loan application is approved by the course start date. 

3. The GBS Finance Department will collect payment details ahead of payment and the referrer will be notified of the payment amount before the payment is made.

4. Payments will be made by bank transfer only (BACS).

5. No payment will be made if any tuition fees are in arrears for either the referrer or the new student.
